an impending invasion of Kwangtung by the notorious "Ironsides", under General Cheung Fat-fui, who was responsible for the Canton massacre at Christmas, 1927, and for the Tsinanfu outrage in 1928, I asked Mr. Wong whether these apprehensions were well-founded. Mr. Wong replied that it had
been the intention of Marshal Chiang Kai-shek, the event of Kwangtung taking part against him in the civil war, to order an invasion of the province by Generals Cheung Fat-fui and Mau Pui-nam. two generals, with their troops, were at present near Nan-ch'ang in Kiangsi province.
